Interior design of a duplex in a 1940s building

Les propriétaires nous ont contactés pour une restructuration et un réaménagement complet de leur duplex de 120 m² situé à Marseille dans un immeuble des années 40. Le projet devait intégrer une chambre supplémentaire avec une salle d’eau attenante, ainsi qu’une cuisine ouverte avec un espace repas.
L’entrée de l’appartement a été modifiée pour créer la cuisine à la place de l’entrée initiale. Cette entrée est optimisée avec un coin bureau, un linéaire de rangement sur mesure aux teintes terracotta. Le sol est en béton ciré.
Dans l'espace de vie, l’architecte d’intérieur a choisi de rénover le parquet à bâton rompu d’origine ainsi que l’habillage de la cheminée en zellige.
Dans la cuisine, les façades en longueur sont noires en partie inférieure et blanches en partie supérieure afin de disparaître visuellement. Une ouverture a été créée entre la cuisine et le salon pour pouvoir continuer à profiter de la vue vers la terrasse. Le coin repas est attenant à la cuisine et prolonge le salon.
Un salon “télé” est aménagé derrière une porte coulissante à galandage, vitrée en chêne. Ce salon donne sur une première chambre de plain-pied, avec une salle d'eau attenante.
L'escalier central en travertin mène à l'espace nuit composé de deux chambres. Un dressing sur mesure a été conçu. Une des chambres donne sur la deuxième terrasse plein ciel. Les deux chambres se partagent une salle de bain au sol en grès cérame et avec un meuble vasque réalisé sur mesure.

The owners commissioned us to carry out a complete restructuring and redesign of their 120 sqm duplex located in Marseille, in a 1940s building. The project needed to include an additional bedroom with an en-suite shower room, as well as an open kitchen with a dining area.
The entrance of the apartment was redesigned to accommodate the kitchen in place of the original entry. This area is optimized with a small office corner and a custom storage unit in terracotta tones. The floor is finished in polished concrete.
In the living area, the interior architect chose to restore the original herringbone parquet flooring as well as the fireplace cladding in zellige tiles.
In the kitchen, the long façades are black on the lower section and white on the upper section, allowing them to visually blend into the space. An opening was created between the kitchen and the living room to maintain the view towards the terrace. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and extends the living space.
A TV lounge is arranged behind a sliding pocket door with an oak-framed glass panel. This lounge opens onto a ground-level bedroom with an en-suite shower room.
The central staircase in travertine leads to the sleeping area composed of two bedrooms. A custom dressing room was designed. One of the bedrooms opens onto a second open-sky terrace. The two bedrooms share a bathroom with porcelain stoneware flooring and a custom-made vanity unit.
